Reginald A. Harris is the founder of TEAMme Foundation Inc. Before establishing a community 501c3 nonprofit organization Reggie worked as a educator, coach and career development manager in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Growing up Reggie was extremely close to his father, a retired Master Sergeant in the Army.  Reggie's dad poured everything into him growing up and pushed him into sports where he excelled, but things took a turn when Reggie lost his dad to cancer at the age of thirteen.  His mother worked non-stop at a local hospital to provide ends meet and with all of his siblings grown and out of the house, Reggie lost his way and started to drift out of control and struggle in school.

By the 12th grade his unstable behavior and actions caused him to be dismissed from his high school football team. Shortly thereafter, he would dropout of the 12th grade, but fortunately for him there was an administrator who intervened.  His name was Mr. Ben Rich.  Reggie didn’t know Mr. Rich, but Mr. Rich reached out to him and wanted to know if he could help.  Reggie accepted Mr. Rich’s offer to help get him back on track. The plan was for Reggie to enroll into a dental program at New Horizon Vocational School for morning classes and then to get enrolled into afternoon classes at Commonwealth Community College to complete high school credits.  Reggie never did become a dentist, but what he learned was that somebody who he didn’t know cared enough about him to step in and provide a pathway.  Reggie didn’t let Mr. Rich down, as he would eventually graduate the following year.

After graduation Reggie followed his father’s path by enlisting into the United States Army.  The Army was where Reggie met his wife.  God works in mysterious ways and twenty years later Reggie is now a educated leader with a platform to have impact on kids and young adults.  He now holds two Master’s degrees: one in Organizational Leadership and another in Sports Management from American Military University. He also holds a Professional Teacher’s License, a Career Development License, a certification as a Global Career Development Facilitator and Instructional Coach.

Reggie initially got interested in education through relationships he developed with student/athletes through coaching.  From those experiences, he knew he could have an impact on kids, so he became a Career and Technical Business Instructor.  As an educator, he quickly realized the challenges faced by so many students in education. During his first year of teaching, he witnessed huge truancy issues and recognized the lack of strong mentorship within a school setting.  Reggie fought to implement goal-oriented learning tracks and empowerment sessions for students. A variety of support systems were implemented such as Career Development, Academic Tutoring, Mentoring, Financial literacy, Motivational Fellowship Events, Real World Field Trips, Soft Skills Training, Dress for Success Days, Job Shadowing Opportunities, Post-Secondary Education Reward Incentives.  These programs are needed to help reduce truancy issues, strengthen the social economic mobility, increase academic achievement, provide post-secondary options and bolster career development.

Reggie’s passion for inspiring and redirecting at-risk youth and young adults has led to the creation of TEAMme Foundation Inc, a nonprofit that runs a variety of distinguished programs. All programs allow mentees to capitalize on their strengths and transition into adulthood with a plan of action.  The focus is geared towards establishing goals, life skills and career pathways that will lead to scholarships, internships and financial security.  Reggie's’ overarching goal is to ensure that the younger sometimes overlooked population are prepared with the necessary skills to contribute in our society.
